TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The commemorative coin set for the Lunar Year of the Pig 2019 will be available starting Jan. 17 across Bank of Taiwan branches, the Central Bank of Taiwan announced today.
The set, comprising a silver coin with an NT$100 denomination and a bronze alloy coin with an NT$10 denomination, is priced at NT$1,800 (US$57.8) per set. There are 120,000 sets available.
The silver coin features an embossed gold-clad pig on one side and the pilgrimage procession of the Chinese sea goddess Matsu (媽祖) on the other, symbolizing prosperity and peace. The bronze alloy coin sports the design of an auspicious pig pattern on one side and a blossoming red peony on the other, signifying fortune and felicity.
Individuals interested in adding the commemorative coin set to their collection will have to make the purchase on site at Bank of Taiwan branches. Each customer is limited to buying one set at a time.
