TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Six-language service is now available via the mobile tourist service stations at the 2019 Taipei Lantern Festival, Taipei Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT), the organizer of the festival, said.
The six languages are English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian.
To make the lantern festival friendlier to international tourists, the service stations at the venue are equipped with personnel fluent in English, according to the organizer. For non-English-speaking visitors, real-time oral translation by people, instead of machines, will be provided through an app, so the foreign visitors will be able to better understand and more pleasurably experience the variety of events and activities being offered, the organizer said.
This year's Taipei Lantern Festival is not only twinkling, but also very international with four lantern theme zones: the Twinkling Theme Lanterns Area, Twinkling Creative Lantern Area, Twinkling Dream Life Area, and Twinkling Friendly Cities Area, according to the TPEDOIT.
The venue will stretch from the plaza in front of the Ximen Red House (紅樓) along Sec. 1 of Zhonghua Rd. (中華路), Zhongxiao West Rd. (忠孝西路), and all the way to North Gate and Taipei Travel Plaza beside the Taipei Main Station.
The festival will run through Sunday, Feb. 24.
