TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A rusted unexploded device that looked like an artillery shell was unearthed during a rapid transit systems construction project in Banqiao District, New Taipei City on Monday afternoon, Central News Agency (CNA) reported.
Police cordoned off the construction site where the unexploded shell was found, CNA reported.
The construction site is located at the intersection of Minsheng Rd. and Huanhe W. Rd. in Banqiao.
Police said that the unexploded shell was more than 20 centimeters long and heavily rusted. For safety seasons, police had notified the military’s bomb squad of the unexpected find and asked them to come to the site to handle the potentially dangerous device.
