TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Representing National Taiwan Sport University, gymnast Lee Chih-kai (李智凱) led his team to dominate in the team competition on Sunday (April 28), at the 2019 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games in New Taipei City.
Lee competed in all six disciplines, including his specialty, the pommel horse. Lee’s long-term coach Lin Yu-hsin (林育信) told Central News Agency (CNA) that he thought Lee’s performance on Sunday went well considering he started training for all-round competition less than a month ago, in April.
But the gymnast was not satisfied with his own performance at the Athletic Games, according to reports. Lee told CNA that increasing his physical strength would be a priority looking forward.
Lee will participate at the 2019 world championship in October this year. Lin said the gymnast will train every day over the next few months on all six disciplines. Lee hopes to achieve a total score of 84 to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.
