TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Over the weekend, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced the success of a humanitarian program which provides education opportunities and medical care for Syrian refugee children.
On April 26, MOFA uploaded a short video to their official Facebook account showing a group of young Syrian girls expressing their gratitude and love for Taiwan.
Many Syrian refugees who were forced to flee from their homeland have settled in Turkey, where they must struggle with limited resources and without their parents.
The young girls in the video are all living in Istanbul, Turkey, and have received assistance from the Taiwanese government and Taiwanese NGOs, working in cooperation with the Turkish government.
In the Facebook post shared by MOFA, the ministry says that it hopes to show the Syrian children who have suffered that “there is still hope in the world.”
The video of the young Syrian refugees is also a testament to Taiwan’s commitment to promote peace, health, and education across the world. By proving that Taiwan is capable of contributing to, and helping to confront global health crises, MOFA also used the video to promote Taiwan’s rightful participation in the activities of the World Health Association.
The video can be seen below.
