TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium (NMMBA) in Pingtung City is offering new souvenirs that are proving popular with the public –- genuine shark teeth.
The new line of souvenirs coincides with the shark-themed exhibition being held at the NMMBA. Each shark keychain souvenir contains teeth from a real-life shark.
According to the NMMBA, sharks lose their teeth continuously and grow new, sharper ones better-suited for hunting. Even though the sharks at the aquarium do not hunt for food, they nonetheless grow new teeth.
The team that cares for the sharks collects teeth that have fallen out, NMMBA said. The teeth are then cleaned in preparation for the keychains.
