TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A man fired shots at the entrance of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) shattering its glass doors on Thursday (March 28), but was prevented from entering the office area by security guards.
At 10:21 a.m., the Taipei City Police Department received a report that shots were fired at the ministry's entrance on Yanping South Road in Zhongzheng District, reported CNA. Officers were dispatched to the scene and arrested a 50-year-old man surnamed Chang (張).
According to MODA, at around 10 a.m., Chang broke into the first floor of the building while carrying a gun. He could be heard shouting anti-government slogans and then opened fire, shattering the sliding glass doors and damaging a first-floor wall.
During the incident, first-floor security guards called the police and evacuated people inside. Chang reportedly tried to go upstairs to the ministry's offices, but was blocked by the security guards.
