TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) network suspended service on Wednesday morning (April 3) following a large earthquake on the country’s east coast.
At around 8.30 a.m., the THSR said its entire network (Nangang-Zuoying line) had been delayed due to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Hualien County at 7:58 a.m. At the time of publishing services remain suspended.
Railways staff are attending to the matter and the THSR apologized for the delays.
CNA reported that an emergency response center has been established by the THSR to conduct inspections of lines, stations, and other facilities. This response has been taken in line with relevant safety regulations.
