TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A video surfaced on Wednesday (April 3) showing a tourist in a hotel rooftop pool in Taipei when a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck at 7:58 a.m.
The man was in the middle of a morning swim at the Regent Taipei, reported SET News. A friend captured the moment on video when the earthquake struck.
As the water in the pool splashes from side to side, the man remains remarkably calm throughout the shaking and stays in the pool.
The hotel was cited by Mirror Media as saying that due to aftershocks from the quake, the pool is currently closed and staff will continue to monitor the situation. The hotel said that all guests and employees are safe.
In terms of damage, the Regent said that there were some broken plates at its hotel restaurants. The hotel said that staff have been assigned to evacuate guests through staircase exits in the event of an emergency.
