TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Japanese singer Misia has canceled her Thursday (April 4) concert following the major earthquake that hit Taiwan on Wednesday (April 3).
According to a statement released on Wednesday by Rhythemedia, Misia’s managing company, the concert was canceled due to safety concerns, per CNA.
“To consider the impact and safety of the audience and staff, it was decided to cancel the performance after consultation,” the company said. “For those of you who were looking forward to attending the show, we apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you very much for your understanding.”
On her website, Misia expressed her sadness. “Now, I can only pray that everyone is safe and that the disaster losses will not continue to expand,” she said. “We also hope that the disaster-stricken areas can recover as soon as possible.”
“I heard that aftershocks are still continuing, so please be careful. Hope everyone is safe and well,” the singer said.
Misia, 45, is a Japanese pop and R&B singer. She rose to prominence with her debut album, “Mother Father Brother Sister,” which was released in 1998.
