TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Dashcam video surfaced on Monday (April 8) showing a massive rockfall on a section of highway in Hualien during last week's earthquake.
New-Reporter.com released a 19-second video provided by a motorist. When the magnitude 7.2 quake hit, the man was driving on Suhua Highway near Taroko National Park, according to ETtoday.
As rocks start to fall on the highway ahead, the driver quickly goes into reverse in the video. His windshield is then cracked by falling debris.
About 10 seconds later, plumes of dust obscure the view of the camera, while the sound of falling rocks can still be heard.
The April 3 earthquake which struck off Hualien and was felt throughout the country was the largest to hit Taiwan in 25 years.
