TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Toyota Motor Corporation will donate NT$6.3 million (US$195,000) for Taiwan’s earthquake recovery, the company announced Thursday (April 11).
In a press statement, Toyota said it expressed its condolences to the victims of the earthquake that struck Taiwan on April 3. The automobile manufacturer said it would donate NT$6.3 million to the TSMC Charity Foundation.
Furthermore, Toyota will initiate an employee donation campaign so that employees can personally donate money to Taiwan, reported CNA.
The company said that it is deeply aware of the relationship between Taiwan and Japan, CNA reported. It said it would use various means to assist Taiwan and hoped that Taiwan would recover as soon as possible.
A magnitude 7.2 rocked Taiwan on April 3, with most damage concentrated in Hualien County. There have been 16 reported deaths as of Wednesday (April 10).
