TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A “yellow” heat warning for Tainan and Kaohsiung was issued for Sunday (April 14) afternoon, with highs reaching 36 C, per the Central Weather Agency (CWA).
Tainan and Kaohsiung are expected to see temperatures above 36 C, while central areas could reach 34 C, and eastern areas between 29 and 31 C.
The CWA warned citizens to pay attention to sun protection and drink water. Lows across Taiwan will reach between 22 and 25 C.
On the outlying islands of Kinmen and Matsu, a special fog report has been issued. As of Sunday morning, visibility had fallen to less than 200 meters, and travelers were encouraged to check flight information before traveling.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) predicted stable and sunny weather until Tuesday (April 16), when a weather front will approach on Wednesday (April 17), leading to more cloudiness with the chance of localized rain in Taipei and eastern Taiwan. Wu said the weather front could cause thunderstorms.
