TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) expressed confidence that Taiwan-Paraguay relations would deepen during a meeting with the visiting Paraguay parliamentary delegation on Monday (April 15).
Han said he looked forward to the future relationship between the two countries and praised the significant growth potential in bilateral trade, CNA reported. Taiwan is the largest market for Paraguayan pork exports and the second-largest market for Paraguayan beef exports, he said.
He pointed out the ongoing cooperation in education, energy, livestock, technology, healthcare, and public health. The legislative speaker also mentioned that National Taiwan University of Science and Technology has received praise from Paraguay students.
Paraguayan Senate President Silvio Adalberto Ovelar Benitez said the relationship between Taiwan and Paraguay was characterized by close exchanges and long-lasting assistance and cooperation. He reiterated Paraguay's alliance with Taiwan, saying its diplomatic recognition of Taiwan remains unchanged.
Ovelar said Paraguay will continue to deepen relations with Taiwan.
The senate president is in Taiwan to promote parliamentary exchanges between the two countries and gain a better understanding of Taiwan's political, economic, and technological advancements.
