TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A corridor linking Taipei Main Station with the Airport MRT was briefly flooded on Thursday (April 18) following heavy rain.
Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) said that at around 7 a.m., the hallway connecting Taipei Main Station and the Airport MRT was flooded by 10 centimeters of water, reported CNA. The TRA Taipei Station promptly closed off the flooded area and within 2.5 hours, it had reopened.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) had issued a heavy rain advisory for nine areas from Hsinchu to Yilan. According to TRA the rainfall exceeded the drainage capacity, causing an overflow.
Taipei Main Station closed off the flooded area, helped passengers, and dispatched personnel and equipment to drain the water and clean the area. Normal service was resumed by 9:25 a.m.
