TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued a heavy rain alert for 11 counties and cities, as well as flash flood and thunderstorm warnings. 

At 12:25 p.m., the CWA issued a heavy rain advisory for Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Nantou County, Chiayi, Chiayi County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung County, and Penghu County. A heavy rain advisory is issued for rainfall exceeding 80 mm within 24 hours or more than 40 mm within one hour. 

The CWA issued a PWS message at 11:27 a.m. warning of heavy rainfall and flash floods in Hsinchu County. It said the Youluo River could experience flash flooding, while the public is advised to pay attention to swollen streams in other parts of the county.

The weather bureau also warned of severe thunderstorms in Yunlin County, Chiayi, Chiayi County, and Tainan.
