TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and Kuomintang (KMT) Taipei councilors passed a proposal on Friday (April 26) to establish a task force that will investigate the Beitou-Shilin Science Park and Core Pacific City real estate cases.
The investigation team will examine the Beitou-Shilin Science Park T16, T17, and T18 municipal land rights solicitation case, and the Core Pacific City renovation case, CNA reported. The task force will also interview former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), who was in charge during the time of the cases.
Ko is suspected of favoring Shin Kong Life during the land bidding. In the Core Pacific City case, the former mayor is being accused of granting the mall a 20% floor area bonus, an increase of 5,585 square meters, which exceeds the floor area ratio limit regulations.
Following party negotiations, the city council decided to establish a nine-member task force for each of the cases. Both parties must provide a list of candidates for the task force before May 1.
The proposal stipulates that Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) must report on the cases on May 10, per UDN.
