TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Rain across Taiwan on Friday (April 26) has brought an estimated 120 million tons of water to the nation's reservoirs.
The Water Resources Agency (WRA) said rainfall in reservoir catchment areas and on the plains also helped irrigation for the year's first rice planting. Furthermore, recent rain has reduced the risks associated with the upcoming dry season, per CNA.
Northern reservoirs such as Feitsui Reservoir, Shihmen Reservoir, and Baoshan Second Reservoir reported an addition of 39.4 million tons of water. Meanwhile, southern reservoirs reported an increase of 11.7 million tons of water.
WRA Deputy Director-General Wang Yi-feng (王藝峰) said rainfall was concentrated in central areas. Liyutan Reservoir received 19 million tons of rainwater and Deji Reservoir received 16 million tons of water.
Water levels after recent rain at some of Taiwan's reservoirs:
- Xinshan Reservoir at 94.9% capacity

- Shihmen Reservoir at 26.2%
- Baoshan Second Reservoir at 34%
