TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) Deputy Minister Lee Wen-chung (李文忠) recently led a delegation to Ireland, the U.K., and the Czech Republic to expand the council's outreach and enhance its international visibility.
From March 23 to April 6, the delegation shared views with local veterans' organizations and NGOs, according to a VAC press release. The delegation visited Czech NGOs Postbellum and People in Need.
Given veterans' dedication to their countries, nations spare no effort in assisting and caring for them, the council said.
VAC Minister Feng Shih-kuan (馮世寬) said on Monday (April 29) the trip was a breakthrough and that he plans to invite veterans’ associations from the three countries to Taiwan to enhance bilateral exchanges, per CNA. It has been budgeted for the next fiscal year, he said.
According to its website, the VAC was established as the Veterans Affairs Commission in 1952 to coordinate and plan employment assistance and placement for retired and discharged military personnel. It was designated as a council in 2013.
