TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A fire broke out at a BBQ restaurant in Taipei's Ximen shopping district on Monday evening (April 29).
At 6:05 p.m., the Taipei City Fire Department received a report that a fire broke out at the Bear One B.B.Q restaurant on No. 155 Xining South Road, ETtoday reported. The fire department dispatched 58 personnel, four firefighting vehicles, four command vehicles, and two ambulances to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames and thick smoke emanating from the second-floor barbecue restaurant. They immediately deployed two water lines for interior firefighting and two for perimeter containment.
Firefighters evacuated 36 people (24 men and 12 women) from the E-House Hotel on the third floor and rescued six people (four men and two women) from the third floor of an adjacent building on No. 40 Emei Street. There were no deaths or injuries reported, and the fire was brought under control by 6:25 p.m.
The fire originated in the restaurant's kitchen, causing damage to stoves, exhaust pipes, and the interior of the restaurant. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
