TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) held the 2024 ITRI Net Zero Day in Taipei on Friday (April 19), marking the forum’s third year.
According to an ITRI press release, prestigious companies and organizations such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Nasdaq Stock Exchange, and TUV Rheinland were invited to share their insights on the path to net zero emissions.
ITRI Chairman Lee Chih-kung (李世光) emphasized ITRI’s ongoing commitment to net zero solutions through Net Zero Day. “Recognizing hydrogen energy as a critical area, the Institute is leading the establishment of the Hydrogen Innovation Hub, fostering collaboration across the hydrogen supply chain. Moreover, ITRI is actively building a cross-disciplinary net zero cooperation model with financial institutions and promoting intangible asset monetization,” the chairman said.
“This aims to facilitate green financing for startups and small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) based on net zero patents, enhancing industry competitiveness in critical areas like technology, talent, patents, and access to green finance,” Lee said.
ITRI President Edwin Liu (劉文雄) noted significant progress in renewable energy and clean technologies. “ITRI has developed a plan for Taiwan’s Pathway to Net Zero Emissions in 2050, fostering sustainable development and startups like Blade Hydrogen Green Technology,” he said. “This company specializes in hydrogen fuel cell technology and clean energy generation, collaborating with industry leaders such as TÜV Rheinland,” he added.
Over 30 technological and industrial services were showcased, such as water electrolysis for hydrogen production, kilowatt-level cooling for AI servers, and eco-friendly fabric sorting technology.
Founded in 1973, the ITRI is a research institute dedicated to industrial and economic development. The institute has played a vital role in incubating companies, including well-known names such as TSMC and UMC.
