TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Defence Service Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, concluded on Thursday (May 9) with Taiwanese defense companies showcasing radar, UAV, and battery tech.
The Malaysian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs co-organized the four-day events at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center, with 1,200 companies from 60 countries participating. The Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association (TW-DIDA) led 22 exhibitors, including Zyxel, Amita Technologies, and Tron Future Tech, per CNA.
Lu Yu-li (陸裕黎), the association’s secretary, told CNA that Zyxel specializes in communications guidance and control, while Tron Future Tech excels in drones. Lu added that Amita Technologies’ lithium batteries drew the attention of foreign buyers.
Lu said he believes that due to the limited scale of the domestic market, Taiwan’s defense industry should unite for international exhibitions.
“Through international exchanges, Taiwan can highlight the advantages of its defense products and break free from the constraints of the red supply chain,” the secretary said.
Taiwan Aerospace Industry Association Secretary General Kung Mei-hsu (龔美旭) said Taiwan's participation in Malaysia not only highlights Taiwan's manufacturing capabilities in the defense industry but also allows Taiwanese industry players to exchange views with counterparts from other countries.
“By observing the strengths of other countries' weapon systems, Taiwan can learn and continue to shine in the defense industry,” he said.
“As geopolitical tensions escalate, Taiwan aims to showcase its strengths in radar, drones, and military-grade computer systems,” Kung said. “Taiwan's industry has existing strengths that should be used to seize greater military and commercial opportunities.”
The DSA and NATSEC were held from May 6-9. More information can be found here.
