TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The government will help smaller enterprises with their carbon-zero and digital transitions, Economics Minister-designate J.W. Kuo (郭智輝) said Friday (May 10).
He made the statement during a one-hour visit to the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), per CNA. Ahead of the May 20 swearing in of a new president, vice president, and Cabinet, Kuo has been meeting representatives from major business groups.
NASME Chair Lee Yu-chia (李育家) said he told Kuo about the challenges facing Taiwan’s smaller businesses, including labor shortages, higher energy prices, inflation, and regional issues. His group also offered suggestions about tax issues and about the development of the health and biotechnology sectors.
Kuo told him he would take his business attitude with him into the Ministry of Economic Affairs, though many issues would have to be discussed with other government departments, Lee said.
Before the announcement of his nomination, Kuo chaired the Topco Group, a supplier to the semiconductor industry.
