TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tigerair Taiwan will start operating flights between Taichung International Airport and destinations in Japan and South Korea from July, reports said Saturday (May 11).
The budget airline wants to establish routes between Taichung and the airports of Tokyo Narita and Nagoya in Japan, and Busan in South Korea, per CNA. Travel agencies are already selling tours but individual travelers need to wait for announcements on the airline’s website, officials said.
Regular flights are operating between Taichung and Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hong Kong, Macau, Nanjing, and Inchon, according to Taichung City Government. Destinations for charter flights included Phu Quoc, Hue, Manila, Busan, Jeju, and Takamatsu.
Taichung officials mentioned the improvement of public transport between the city and its airport. There was a bus on average every 15 to 20 minutes between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., while the city is also hoping for a Mass Rapid Transit line to link the center with the international airport.
