TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) Chair Frank Huang (黃崇仁) on Monday (May 13) urged France to collaborate with Taiwan to develop future technologies such as AI at a roundtable discussion hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Huang said American tech companies such as IBM, Microsoft, Google, Apple, and AMD have always relied on Taiwan's efficient information technology manufacturing platform to drive global operations, CNA reported. Huang added Taiwan is also an important technical support base for these American businesses.
Huang pointed out that Jensen Huang (黃仁勳), Nvidia CEO, has visited Taiwan several times in recent years to seek technical and manufacturing support from Taiwan's semiconductor industry. If France can also make good use of Taiwan's established platforms and operational experience, it will undoubtedly benefit from cooperation in technology, cost, and service.
The chair said France has a strong foundation in technical capabilities but ties between Taiwan and France are not as close as Taiwan's partnership with the U.S., which is regrettable.
