TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND) on Friday (May 24) released a video showing a Taiwan P-3C Orion anti-submarine aircraft closely monitoring Chinese warships.
The PLA's Eastern Theater Command Thursday (May 23) announced that it would conduct the “Joint Sword-2024A” exercise in the sea and airspace surrounding Taiwan. The MND slammed the exercises as an “irrational provocation" and dispatched naval, air, and ground forces to respond.
On Friday morning, the MND released photos and video showing a P-3C Orion closely tracking Chinese military and coast guard ships on Thursday. Images were captured of several Chinese vessels, including a Jiangdao-class corvette, a Luyang III-class destroyer, and 2 coast guard ships, according to the MND.
The MND also provided photos of a Coast Guard ship and F-16 fighter jets conducting patrols on Thursday.
