TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Chinese dissident and author Yuan Hungbing (袁紅冰) said China intends to gain control over Taiwan through Kuomintang (KMT) party seats in the legislature.
Yuan told CNA on Friday (May 24) that he obtained the information from the child of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official, though he did not provide a name. He added Beijing does not have the “guts” to deal with this individual.
Yuan said that aside from military threats, China intends to disrupt Taiwan with propaganda, and agent infiltration to weaken new President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) administration.
Yuan said the CCP views the KMT as a tool to achieve its goal of increasing political interference in Taiwan. The KMT responded by saying that Yuan was a “fraud” and his statements were without basis.
Yuan started organizing political campaigns as a 20-year-old and studied criminal law at Peking University. He created The Peking University Faculty Support Association after the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989.
He went to Australia in 2004 to seek political asylum and has published several books, many condemning the CCP.
