TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) predicted rain will be likely across Taiwan for seven days.
The CWA said on its Facebook page that this week's weather will be unstable as a plum rain front nears Taiwan. The front is forecasted to bring rain to different parts of the country in waves as it changes position.
On Monday (May 27), much of Taiwan proper and outlying islands will gradually experience localized, short-term showers or thunderstorms. In the afternoon, there is a chance of localized heavy rain in central and northern Taiwan and mountainous regions.
High temperatures in all areas on Monday will generally range from 30-33 C.
At 1:20 p.m. on Monday, the CWA issued a yellow heavy rain advisory for Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Chiayi County, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Yellow rain alerts are issued when rainfall exceeds 80 mm over 24 hours or surpasses 40 mm in one hour.
The CWA said the plum rain front will move south on Tuesday (May 28), bringing widespread rain from Tuesday to Wednesday (May 29). It predicted that precipitation will ease slightly on Thursday (May 30) as the front moves northward.
On Friday (May 31), the front will return and bring rain to the west. From Saturday to Sunday (June 1-2) showers or thunderstorms are likely in the west, while isolated, brief showers or thunderstorms are possible in the east.
