TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines (星宇航空) is preparing to offer a direct service from Taipei to Jakarta, Indonesia, in September.
Many Taiwanese businesspeople and aviation enthusiasts from Indonesia had recently speculated on social media that Starlux Airlines would add a Taipei to Jakarta route in September. The airline confirmed to CNA on Wednesday (May 29) that the service is expected to operate five times a week, with tickets going on sale soon.
The route will be serviced by an Airbus A321neo aircraft, with seating capacity for 188 passengers, including eight business class seats and 180 economy class seats.
Starlux also indicated that in response to the increased business volume, Taiwanese staff would be stationed in Jakarta in the future.
This makes Starlux Airlines the third Taiwanese air carrier to offer flights on this route, along with EVA Air and China Airlines, which offer seven and 10 weekly flights.
