TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese drama film “The Time of Huan Nan” has been selected to feature in the 2024 New York Asian Film Festival.
Inspired by Taipei’s Huan Nan Market in Wanhua District, the film follows the lives of four friends, the “four youths of Huan Nan,” per CNA. Taking place in 1991, little does the group know that their youngest member, an 18-year-old, is from 2022.
Director and writer Leading Lee (李鼎) said, “This is the honor of being the first feature film in Taiwan’s public art history and the destiny of finally bringing visibility to Wanhua’s Huan Nan Market.” “Our team will continue with a sense of mission to let more people around the world see The Time of Huan Nan,” Lee added.
“Thanks to the director, actors, and all the crew members in front of and behind the scenes,” female lead Wang Yuping (王渝屏) said. “I'm excited to share ‘Taipei's West Side Story’ with the audience!”
A dash of time travel and a hint of boy’s love, The Time of Hua Nan leaves your heart wanting more.
The movie was released in cinemas across Taiwan on May 31.
