TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Two of the world’s top 10 DJs, Alok and Afrojack, plan to perform separately in Taiwan in early June.
Alok, No. 4 on DJ Mag’s top 100, was scheduled to appear at the Wave club in Taipei City on June 9. As one of the most listened-to artists from Brazil, he has introduced the musical flavors of his country into his dance sounds and performed in front of hundreds of thousands of people at festivals and on beaches.
Apart from music, Alok has also been active in promoting the Indigenous cultures of his country with funding, concerts, and documentaries.
The world’s No. 7 DJ, Afrojack, is scheduled to perform in Taiwan on two nights, June 13 at the Alta nightclub in Taichung City and June 14 at Omni in Taipei City. The Grammy Award winner, who hails from the Netherlands, has collaborated with numerous other top DJs, including Steve Aoki under the name of Afroki.
Also still on DJ Mag’s top 100, but at No. 84, was Mexican sister act Le Twins. They are booked to perform on June 15 at the AI Nightclub in Taipei City’s Xinyi District.
Karen and Karla de la Garza are no strangers to Taiwan, having appeared in the country several times before, including at Creamfields Taiwan in April 2023. They are known for stepping aside from the sound desk and hitting drums on stage, while also singing in their native Spanish.
Looking further ahead, pop star Dua Lipa was due to return to Taiwan in November for the Asian leg of her Radical Optimism tour. She will sing at a baseball stadium in Taoyuan City on Nov. 20 for her first concert in Taiwan since appearing in Taipei City in 2018.
