TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Videos surfaced on Monday (June 3) of a massive landslide covering a section of highway in Keelung.
At 2:28 p.m. on Monday, a landslide occurred near the 70-km mark of Provincial Highway No. 2 in Keelung, causing a traffic closure in both directions, per New-Reporter.com. The Keelung City Fire Bureau said nine vehicles were affected and two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
The landslide occurred on the hillside next to the Pinglang Bridge at the entrance to Chaojing Park, reported CNA. The Taipei City Fire Department also dispatched search and rescue dogs.

The Keelung Fire Bureau said that based on the police's review of surveillance footage and witness statements, it was determined that no people were trapped under the rubble. The occupants of the seven cars and two trucks had all successfully exited their vehicles.
The Keelung Fire Bureau reported two injured individuals at the scene. A 46-year-old man surnamed Wang (王) sustained head injuries and a 40-year-old man surnamed Chen (陳) was also slightly injured.
Both were conscious and have been taken to Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Videos have been posted online by witnesses at the scene. In one video, a car hits reverse as the hillside suddenly collapses, while a pedestrian can also be seen using her smartphone to capture the landslide.
A second video shows motorists finding their parked vehicles trapped behind a huge pile of debris.
