TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with drone maker AEVEX Aerospace of the United States Friday (June 7).
The Taiwan defense contractor said the agreement covered both air and surface uncrewed equipment. The MOU also signaled the company had entered the field of international cooperation for drones, according to AIDC.
AIDC Chair Hu Kai-hung (胡開宏) signed the MOU with AEVEX CEO Brian Raduenz. Delegations from the company based in San Diego County, California, were reportedly impressed by AIDC’s mass production capabilities when they visited AIDC in December and April.
The Taiwan company said it hoped to cooperate on the software and hardware supply chains with AEVEX, a specialist in the design, manufacture, and integration of drones.
AIDC added it had said before that it was interested in the production of uncrewed vehicles, and that it would not restrict itself to purely military equipment nor to the local market.
