TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hong Kong singer and actor Jacky Cheung (張學友) canceled his Friday (June 7) concert in Taipei at the last minute due to a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection.
Cheung was originally scheduled to hold one of his “Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour" concerts at the Taipei Arena.
At about 4 p.m., Cheung posted via Universal Music on Facebook that he felt unwell after returning to Hong Kong last week and was diagnosed with RSV. Despite being in Taiwan and “hoping for a miracle,” he said he still has a sore throat and cannot speak normally due to the pain.

In addition, Cheung said he has symptoms such as a runny nose and nasal congestion, but urged his fans not to worry. He said that in general, it is the virus that infects children, but he said he probably came down with the disease “because I am 60+,” jokingly referring to his age and concert series.
Cheung said, "Tonight's performance is confirmed as canceled. I sincerely apologize for disappointing ticket holders and causing trouble for the organizers. I would also like to say 'I'm sorry!' to everyone."
He closed by hoping that he would quickly recover and return to the stage to perform for his fans.
Cheung was slated to hold nine performances at Taipei Area from May 31 to June 16, with his most recent appearance on June 2. It is unknown whether Cheung will attend his remaining concerts scheduled in Taipei, with the soonest being June 8 and 9.
