TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) announced on Tuesday (June 18) the creation of its Empower Vocational Education Research Center (EVERC).
The first of its kind, the center aims to develop vocational education scenarios and teaching aids, per CNA. Taiwan Tech said it also seeks to train high school and vocational school teachers to use digital tools that allow students to perform virtual practical exercises.
EVERC Director Chen Su-fen (陳素芬) said digital education is a powerful tool for vocational training.
“By creating situational learning environments, students can intuitively grasp difficult concepts,” she explained. “The VR models are an example of using technology to create more engaging and effective learning experiences.”
Chair Professor Huang Kuo-chen (黃國禎) said that in the automotive repair courses at Affiliated Tao-Yuan Agricultural and Industrial Senior High School, the limited factory space and equipment often restricted students from observing the teacher’s movement. He added teachers can now use multimedia materials and mobile devices that offer multiple viewing angles.
“This innovative teaching approach not only overcomes learning difficulties caused by inadequate equipment in traditional teaching but also enhances the effectiveness of technology-assisted learning in vocational schools,” Huang said.
