TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) reported Wednesday (June 19) a record NT$16.2 billion (US$500 million) in revenue in May.
In an online meeting, AIDC deputy finance manager Huang Shu-yuan (黃淑媛) reported the company’s growth and its prospects in defense and services, per CNA.
“As of May, the company’s revenue had reached NT$16.2 billion, with defense operations remaining the primary driver, accounting for over 50% of the total,” Huang said. “Civil operations have increased to over 40%, up from 36% last year and 38% the previous year, driven by the strong demand for civil aircraft due to the revival of international travel.”
Huang said the company is focusing on profitable products and expanding its thermoplastic composite technology to capture the next-generation passenger aircraft market.
AIDC said the Brave Eagle advanced trainer jet has entered its production peak, per UDN. “The Ministry of National Defense (MND) has included a five-year Brave Eagle Trainer jet maintenance and support contract in this year's budget, with a total value exceeding NT$16.2 billion,” it said.
With nearly half of the 66 Brave Eagle trainer jets delivered to the military, the company said ongoing maintenance and support for the fleet are crucial and will contribute to revenue in the coming years.
Meanwhile, AIDC signed a memorandum of cooperation with U.S. defense contractor Aevex Aerospace on Monday (June 17) to develop unmanned aerial systems.
