TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued high-temperature warnings for nearly a dozen counties and cities on Thursday (June 20).
The weather bureau said at 12:30 p.m. the temperature in Pingtung County's Sandimen Township rose to 37.7 C, and was 37 C in Kaohsiung's Qishan District. At 12:40 p.m., the temperature in Taipei's Xinyi District reached 37.1 C.
Around noon, Pingtung County received an orange signal, indicating a probability of temperatures reaching 38 C. Changhua County, Yunlin County, Tainan, and Kaohsiung also received an orange signal, indicating a likelihood of the temperature reaching 36 C for three consecutive days.
Taipei City, New Taipei City, Nantou County, Hualien County, and Taitung County received yellow signals, with maximum daily temperatures potentially reaching 36 C.
