TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND) on Friday (June 21) said there would be a Chinese satellite rocket launch over Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Saturday (June 22).
The MND said the satellite will be launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China's Sichuan Province. It predicted the rocket's flight path would head toward the Western Pacific and pass over Taiwan's ADIZ.
The MND said it will monitor the trajectory, taking appropriate precautions and responses.
In addition, the MND tracked 36 Chinese military aircraft and seven naval vessels around the country between 6 a.m. on Thursday (June 20) and 6 a.m. on Friday (June 21). Of the aircraft, 34 crossed the Taiwan Strait median line.
The MND said it sent combat patrol aircraft and naval vessels and deployed land-based air defense missile systems to monitor the situation.
