TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Chiayi County Fire Department received an emergency call around noon on Sunday (June 23) that a 65-year-old woman lost her footing and fell down a 50-meter slope in the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area.
Reports said the woman had chest and rib injuries. Rescuers arrived at her approximate location at about 3:30 p.m., with rugged mountain terrain making her rescue difficult, per CNA.
Her wounds were later treated, and she was placed on a stretcher and dragged back on to the trail by rescuers.

Later, members of her expedition, a 24-person hiking group, took turns carrying her in a relay to the trailhead. By 8 p.m., she was taken by ambulance to St. Martin de Porres Hospital in Chiayi City.
The fire department reminded the public to pay attention to their physical condition when hiking mountains. Furthermore, weather information, road conditions, and other information must be heeded to avoid accidents.
