TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — EVA Air has once again been awarded Skytrax's five-star airline certification, making it the ninth consecutive year it has received an award likened to the Oscars of the airline industry.
In addition to earning Skytrax’s top rating, EVA was listed as the eighth-best airline out of the top 20 airlines announced at Skytrax’s 25th World Airline Awards held in London, U.K., on Monday (June 24). EVA was also awarded other accolades, such as first place in "Best Premium Economy Class Inflight Catering" and "Best Premium Economy Class Inflight Catering in Asia."
EVA President Clay Sun (孫嘉明) attended the event to receive the awards in person. “Receiving the Skytrax five-star airline certification for the ninth consecutive year is the best recognition of the hard work and excellent service of all EVA Air employees,” said Sun.
He added the airline will continue to pursue excellence, introduce the latest technology, optimize service processes, and bring a more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable flight to all passengers, per CNA. Sun added that recognition by Skytrax affirms EVA Air's commitment to quality service.
Skytrax ranks airlines based on passenger surveys and is well respected in the aviation industry with credible data that is valued by both the aviation and tourism industries. Skytrax uses online questionnaires in multiple languages, such as Chinese, English, Japanese, with surveys including more than 350 airlines and airports, covering more than 21 million passengers.
EVA Air launched the world's first premium economy class in 1992, which was immediately welcomed by the market and led others in the aviation industry to follow suit. Now, premium economy is a mainstream product offered by many airlines.
To further improve in-flight services, EVA Air will soon provide meals made by the Kanpei Group on routes from Taipei to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and New York starting in July.
