TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) Thursday (June 27) issued heat advisories for all of Taiwan proper except Hsinchu.
Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung could reach 38 C, and the Greater Taipei Basin 37 C. Kaohsiung Qijin District had already recorded a high of 36.5 C at 8 a.m.
The CWA issued a red heat alert for Pingtung County for reaching 38 C for three consecutive days. It issued an orange heat advisory, reaching 36 C for three straight days, for Taipei, New Taipei, Hsinchu County, Changhua County, Nantou County, and Yunlin County.
The weather bureau issued a yellow heat advisory for Keelung, Taoyuan, Miaoli County, Taichung, Chiayi, Chiayi County, Yilan County, Hualien County, and Taitung County where it could reach 36 C.
The CWA said the east will range from 32 C to 34 C during the day, while the west will generally reach around 36 C.
When outdoors, the public is advised to protect themselves from sun exposure and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.
