TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) climbed to No. 7 in the latest U.S. News & World Report's global university rankings for education and educational research.
The U.S. News ranking considers factors like research performance, publications and citations. It's one of the most influential global university ranking systems, alongside Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings and QS World University Rankings, according to CNA.
NTNU, which ranked No. 9 last year, announced the results on Thursday (June 27). The top three universities in the field were the University of Hong Kong (HKU), University College London (UCL), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
NTNU boasts a strong reputation in education research. Five of its education journals are indexed in the Taiwan Social Sciences Citation Index (TSSCI), and 11 are included in the Scopus database.
These publications garner recognition from both domestic and international academics. This solidifies NTNU's position as a leader in education research.
In 2018, NTNU established the first School of Learning Informatics in Taiwan. The institution is dedicated to cultivating students in digital learning, computer science, library and information studies, and related fields.
NTNU also ranked 27th in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 for education. It has consistently placed within the top 30 for the past four years.
