TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s passport was listed as the 35th strongest in the world by Henley and Partners, staying on the same spot as last year, reports said Saturday (June 29).
There was a change at the top for June, with Singapore replacing Japan as the passport from the Southeast Asian nation gave visa-free access to 195 countries and territories. Japan fell to No. 2, where it joined France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, whose passports allow citizens to enter 194 countries without needing a visa.
Taiwan’s passport gives visa-free entrance to 143 countries, per the Liberty Times. South Korea came in as one of the countries at No. 3, Australia and New Zealand at No. 6, Malaysia at No. 13, and Hong Kong at No. 20.
The lowest-ranking country was Afghanistan at No. 107, with China at No. 60 and North Korea at No. 99. The ranking of the list was based on data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), with changes in visa regulations reflected in monthly updates.
