TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan has become the third-largest source of visitors to Vietnam as the Southeast Asian country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, reports said Saturday (June 29).
Vietnam welcomed 8.8 million overseas visitors during the first half of the year, per CNA. The total amounted to an increase of 58% over the same period in 2023, and was 4% higher than before the pandemic.
South Korea, China, and Taiwan are the three countries sending the highest numbers of tourists to Vietnam, according to official figures quoted by VnExpress. The government counted 2.28 million visitors from South Korea during the first half of 2024, 1.89 million from China, 630,000 from Taiwan, 415,000 from the United States, and 335,000 from Japan.
Travelers from Malaysia, Australia, India, Cambodia, and Thailand fill out the rest of the top-10. Vietnam has set a goal of 18 million visitors for all of 2024.
