TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) Monday (July 1) issued heat advisories for 16 counties and cities as the apparent temperature in Taipei is predicted to hit 42 C.
The CWA said Taitung County could reach 38 C on Monday. It issued an orange heat advisory, reaching 36 C for three straight days, for Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Taichung, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Tainan, and Pingtung County.
The weather bureau issued a yellow heat advisory for New Taipei, Hsinchu, Miaoli County, Chiayi, Chiayi County, and Kaohsiung where it could reach 36 C.
The CWA predicts that high temperatures will persist over the next week. The apparent temperature in Taipei is forecast to reach 42 C on Monday and 43 C on Tuesday (July 2).
Monday afternoon, there is a chance of localized thunderstorms in central and northern Taiwan and Hualien, with a possibility of localized heavy rain in mountainous areas. The CWA predicted rain from Tuesday to Thursday (July 4) in central and northern Taiwan in the evenings and afternoon thunderstorms in the west and mountainous areas.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the CWA said highs in the southeast will be 33 C, while other areas will range from 34 C to 36 C.
