TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Following a thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon (July 2), the Taipei MRT Brown line partially suspended operations for 45 minutes due to a signal abnormality.
The disruptions began at 2:57 p.m., when the Taipei Metro announced that services between Liuzhangli and the Taipei Zoo stations would be temporarily suspended, reported CNA.
The segment that runs between the Zhongxiao Fuxing and Technology Building stations was pushed onto a single track for both directions, with trains running approximately every eight minutes. The TRTC advised passengers to consider alternative transportation options as needed.
Service between Zhongxiao Fuxing and Nangang Exhibition Center stations continued to operate normally.
Due to a signal malfunction affecting train operations toward the Taipei Zoo on the Brown Line, the Taipei Metro initiated a shuttle bus service between Taipei Zoo Station and Zhongxiao Fuxing Station. Passengers have been reminded that train stop and wait times will be longer, and they should consider transferring lines or using alternative transportation if necessary.
The Taipei Metro said that after emergency repairs by maintenance personnel, the entire line resumed normal operations at 3:42 p.m. The Taipei Metro suspects the abnormality was caused by lightning, but the exact cause is currently under investigation.
