TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's E.Sun Bank announced Tuesday (July 2) that it will open a new office in Kumamoto, Japan.
According to a company press release, the bank received approval from Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) on June 24. The company said it expects the office to open in October, per CNA.
E.Sun Bank said Kyushu is a major hub for Japan's semiconductor and automotive industries, with Kumamoto being the second-largest prefecture in Kyushu. It added that in recent years, local semiconductor, manufacturing, logistics, and software industries have rapidly developed.
The bank explained that establishing its Fukuoka office in July 2023 made it the first Taiwanese bank to set up a branch in Kyushu. “The establishment of the Kumamoto office will provide more services to the semiconductor supply chain and local customers,” it said.
The bank went on to note that in the future, it would expand cooperation with E.Sun’s Fukuoka office, the Kyushu Financial Group, and local business associations to offer customers more comprehensive financial services and gain insights into the local market and industry trends.
E.Sun Bank has 31 locations in 10 countries, and a new Kuala Lumpur office will open in late July.
