TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Hsinchu Chinese Music Festival, organized by the Hsinchu City Government, will run from July 6 to 28.
The festival will showcase a diverse range of Chinese music. It also features a guqin exhibition, running from July 4 to Aug. 4, and related activities at the Hsinchu Performing Arts Center, aiming to revive the instrument's melodious sounds in Hsinchu.
Twelve performances by a variety of ensembles will perform at the festival. Groups including the National Chinese Orchestra (NCO), the Hsinchu City Youth Chinese Orchestra (Hcyco), and student groups will perform, per CNA.
Classical Chinese instrument liuqin (柳琴) player Ge yang (葛楊), and erhu (二胡) player Tsai Zhen-yu (蔡鎮宇), will be performing in the event. Additionally, there will be a music concert held on July 19, featuring the premiere of pieces “Echoes of Seediq” and “Hokkien Soundscapes.”
A symphony performance will be featured in the closing concert on July 28. Pang Ka-pang (彭家鵬), artist director and chief conductor of the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra (SUCO), will be joined by Cui Can (崔燦), also from SUCO, for a musical feast.
