TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Traffic at Taipei Songshan Airport was disrupted by heavy rain on Saturday (July 6) afternoon, according to the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA).
Large parts of Taiwan have been sweltering under temperatures of 36 C and higher, often followed by heavy thunderstorms. As a preventive measure, the CAA said ground movements at the capital’s airport would be halted from 12:53 p.m., per CNA.
The CAA asked passengers who had booked flights for Saturday afternoon or who planned to head for the airport to meet arriving travelers to check the latest airline information.
Traffic resumed later in the afternoon, with five flights having been affected. Airports overseas were also notified about the temporary suspension of work, allowing them to inform travelers waiting for their flights to Taiwan.
