TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A commercial mentioning the name of a company based in the Chinese province of Fujian was removed from outside a New Taipei bus station following a complaint by a politician, reports said Saturday (July 6).
A passerby noticed the commercial being broadcast on a video wall outside the Banqiao bus station, situated opposite the New Taipei City Government building, the Liberty Times reported. He then went on to inform Huang Shu-chun (黃淑君), a member of the New Taipei City Council for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Huang said she went to see the commercial for herself, finding it was shown every three to five minutes. She asked the New Taipei Metro Corporation why it had not given the contract for the commercial to a local company.
The reply given was that a subcontractor had been in charge of managing the content of the video wall. Due to doubts from the public, New Taipei Metro said it had asked for the Chinese company commercial to be removed.
